Road Safety Trust welcomes automated lane system
Following the Government's call for evidence into the safe use of Automated Lane Keeping System, Sally Lines CEO, Road Safety Trust commented:
"The Road Safety Trust welcomes the Government's call for evidence on Automated Lane Keeping System. Driverless technology is already well under way, and has the potential to reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on UK roads. The consultation will allow for a safe transition towards development and roll out.
"We look forward to the results, the public consultation later this year and the impact this will have on legislation and the Highway Code.
"Developing and emerging technologies have a huge impact on the way that we live and have the potential to save lives on the roads. We embrace the use of technology and are inviting applications to our main grant funding theme in 2021 titled ‘How the use of technology can help reduce road offending and improve road safety’."
