Speeding in the pandemic
Further to the reports over the Easter weekend (10-13 April) from various police forces that there has been an increase in speeding cases, Sally Lines, CEO from Road Safety Trust commented:
"When the roads are quieter there can be a temptation to drive faster than the speed limit. However, speeding is a criminal offence and punishable by prosecution with points to your license or a fine.
"During the COVID-19 pandemic the pressure on the healthcare system is already at a maximum. Knowing that speed is a contributing factor to road traffic collisions, we must respect the speeding laws and rules of the road.
"As per the government advice, people should be staying at home and only going outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)."
