Project summary
This project aimed to give school staff the knowledge and skills needed to produce road safety interventions to meet their school’s needs, supporting staff to embed this life skill into everyday learning. The intervention is aimed at teachers and teaching assistants (TAs) in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1).
This training allows teachers to develop a greater understanding of road safety, what resources are available, interventions that meet their aims, and how to plan them.
The project uses a ‘train the trainer’ model. It allows for road safety experts to up-skill teachers and teaching assistants who are in an optimum role to deliver interventions, which will develop a child’s knowledge and social norms around road safety on a regular basis.
