Project summary
The University of Greenwich explored the role of volunteers in roads policing initiatives, including the CSW scheme, improving their deployment and management.
The project established ‘what works’ and ‘why’ in road safety, supported collaboration between the police and universities, and influenced road safety policy and practice.
A CSW conference took place in June 2023 bringing together police practitioners, CSW volunteers, policy makers and road safety practitioners together to look at ways to make CSW a more effective tool for roads policing and education. The project has also produced a series of infographics summarising key recommendations for CSW groups.
