Project summary
The University of West of England aims to determine whether there is a synergetic and positive effect on speed (slowing down) from adding Centre Line Removal (CLR) without making any further changes to the road environment.
The Small Grant project will deliver a small scale controlled trial to test the effectiveness of implementing CLR in addition to existing lower speed limits i.e. 30mph and 20mph in small towns and semi-rural settlement areas within East Lothian Council's local highway network.
This project builds on an evidence review of the effectiveness of CLR: https://www.roadsafetytrust.org.uk/funded-projects/17/uwe-centre-line-removal?rq=UWE
