£180k funding announced to progress road safety projects to implementation
We are inviting applications to help progress four projects to their next stage of making a tangible difference to UK road safety. For the first time, the Small Grants Programme will provide funding that focuses on supporting previously funded and completed projects to implementation stage.
£120k funding announced for road safety projects
Charities, local authorities, and community groups are invited to apply for funding for road safety projects. We will open our Small Grants Programme for applications on 9th September for five weeks.

Every charity needs to be able to demonstrate the difference it has made. This is quite a challenging exercise for many charities, and it is especially so for grant-making trusts and foundations, which are reliant on the projects they fund to make a difference individually first.
Further projects announced for funding to improve road safety
Announcing four further projects awarded funding to help improve road safety. There have now been eight projects awarded in total since February 2021, to a value of approximately £300k.

The Road Safety Trust has awarded approximately £300k of funding to eight organisations across the UK to help improve road safety.
2020 main grants theme
As an independent grant giving Trust we are dedicated to making the UK’s roads the safest in the world. We focus on funding projects that protect vulnerable road users, in particular, young and older drivers, pedestrians, pedal cyclists and motorcyclists.

Charities, local authorities and community groups are today being urged to apply for a new grant fund aimed at improving road safety.
Priority funding themes for 2019 and 2020 announced
Following consultation with the sector, the theme chosen for this year is ‘Innovative traffic calming and provision for vulnerable road users’. For 2020 the theme will be ‘How can technology be used to reduce road offending and promote safe driving?’.
Survey response by theme
Between September and November 2018, we carried out an online consultation to find out what our stakeholders thought about the importance levels of a number of themes that had been identified as potential gaps by our Road Safety Initiatives Committee.
